This initiative is vital for forklift dealers and end users operating in environments with flammable vapors or dust.

In accordance with OSHA 1910.178(b)(7), Type EX forklifts are designed for safe operation in atmospheres containing flammable vapors or dusts. Rico Manufacturing's EX conversions ensure compliance with OSHA standards (1910.178(c)(2)(ii)), permitting the use of approved power-operated industrial trucks in these potentially hazardous conditions.

Dealers and end users must note that trucks designated as Type EX, whether manufactured or converted, require approval by a nationally recognized testing laboratory (NRTL). Rico Manufacturing emphasizes adherence to NFPA 505 (2006) 4.2.14, stipulating that the conversion of trucks for hazardous locations must comply with UL standards and be certified by an NRTL.

Compliance with these standards is a joint responsibility of forklift dealers and end users.
